I question you !

Sun rose quite the same way this morning
Without any much ado
Just like the killings around various borders
The murders and the dupes .

The buds bloomed in the valley this morning
While humans were robbed of their own bloom
But the butterfly sang to the flower
Sharing some love, made her groom.

Why did the river water touch the feet
Of the prince and the pauper alike?
Silly , couldn’t it differentiate between the two ?
What made her to be so kind ?

Why the sun rays touched both
The evil and the pure ?
It failed to decipher between the two
Did it simply shine to cure ?

But why these rays of sunshine, this fragrant breeze
Nature’s unconditional gifts for man-kind
Is it a fair deed ?
These loyal doses of kindness
We ain't any deserving indeed ?!

From all I see and hear
Everyone seems to be crushing
Their own conscience for something oh-so dear !
Though they don’t know where they are heading
The plan is just to shove ahead and move
Love for kindness and humanity being shed
And really, no one seems to disapprove …?!!

NaPoWriMo 2019 Day 2. Today’s prompt (optional, as always) is based on this poem by Claire Wahmanholm, which transforms the natural world into an unsettled dream-place. One way it does this is by asking questions – literally. The poem not only contains questions, but ends on a question. Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that similarly resists closure by ending on a question, inviting the reader to continue the process of reading (and, in some ways, writing) the poem even after the poem ends.
