Napowrimo 2018, Day 18. Today’s prompt Take a poem, preferably one not known to you. Cover all but the last line. Write out that line and then write a line to correspond or in response. Then take the penultimate line and do the same and so on back to the first line of the poem.
Such an interesting prompt. A new poem out of an old one and that too to be written in the reverse gear ! ! So, first is the poem I just read today and I loved it.
It is by Langston Hughes, an American poet. Following his poem is my poem that I have written with the required rules for the day prompt !
Dreams By Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
Dreams By Me
Frozen with snow
You dare not slow
Life is a barren field
I know , but hold on
For when dreams go
They take a part of you with them
Hold fast to dreams
And to your truth
That cannot fly
Hold fast to grace as
Life is a broken-winged bird
Keep walking ~ Keep dreaming
For if dreams die
Life within – stops living
Hold fast to dreams
They will keep you alive.
